Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will host a seminar featuring Leslie Moskal, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Mary Kay Cattaneo, Director of Rehabilitation Services for Sacred Heart Hospital.
Leslie Moskal will speak on home environmental risks – covering fall risk factors such as clutter and tripping hazards, poor lighting, stair safety, grab bars and the dangers of poorly designed public spaces. Moskal will also identify possible areas that could be tripping hazards, the need for railings or extra support and the recommended assistive devices you should use when traveling away from home.
“Most falls occur in the home and are preventable,” said Moskal. “A close examination of your home may reveal easy to fix tripping hazards such as poor lighting, throw carpets or the need for grab bars,” she continued.
Mary Kay Cattaneo will share information on the Bodies in Balance Fall Prevention Program available at Sacred Heart and our Wellness Program offering aquatic, strengthening and balance classes offered at Sacred Heart Rehabilitation at Somerby Assisted Living in Santa Rosa Beach. Free balance assessments will be provided to seminar attendees after the seminar. These classes are available to the public.
