Event Description:

Join us for our December First Friday Breakfast.

Ever since Hurricane Michael bore down on the Florida Panhandle and beyond, The Sonder Project and the Walton Area Chamber has been working tirelessly to respond to the needs on the ground and offer strength to our neighboring communities.  We are committed to supporting the recovery efforts and strengthening our neighbors in Panama City and we could not do it without your support.

Our Secret Santa Initiative is to provide Christmas to the families we are currently supporting. We have collected a wish list of items per each family member. If you would like to adopt a family, an individual, or give just 1 item, please see the family links below.

You can bring the unwrapped gifts to the First Friday Breakfast or to the Power of Networking Lunch.

You can also deliver or ship the items to The Sonder Project office (790 N. Co. Hwy 393  Bldg. B Santa Rosa Beach, FL. 32459) by Wed Dec. 19th. We will "secretly" deliver all presents to the families on Dec. 23rd so they can give the presents to their family on Christmas morning!!
*Please include the name of the gift recipient to help us keep track of all presents.

Family 1
We are a family of 4 (Boy 4, Girl 2). Like most people here in Bay county we suffered damage to our house and property. Both my children lost their daycare/preschools and many of their friends moved out of the area permanently. We are on one income and my husband’s job as a police officer depends on extra duty details. Several of those locations were destroyed, so that will be a loss of income.

Family 2
We are a family of 4 (2 boys age 6 & 7). We lost quite a lot of belongings due to the Hurricane. The majority of my children's toys and clothes had to be thrown out due to mold. We are taking things one day at a time and doing the best we can. I am thankful that my children and I survived and have our health.

Family 3
We are a family of 5 (Sons 16 & 20, Daughters 18 & 24).  Our garage came all the way detached during the hurricane and landed on my bedroom roof which caused it to fall in. It busted out 2 of my doors and the floors are falling in now because of the rain and is basically unsafe, but since I didn't have insurance it's going to be hard to fix. I also lost both of my jobs the day of the hurricane since Tyndall Air Force Base was where I worked cleaning buildings.

Family 4
We are a family of 4 (Sons 18, 14 & 8). I had damage to my house that caused mold to start growing. This made my house uninhabitable. We have had to move out of the house as it is getting repaired.

Family 5
We are a family of 4 (Daughter 25, Grandson 2 & 5).  I am a single mother/grandmother who just purchased a house a month before the storm. My daughter and 2 grandsons live with me. Their bedroom was destroyed by trees falling on the house causing the roof to cave in to their bedroom. They lost everything in the room...clothes, shoes, television, my grandsons PS4 that he just received for his 5th birthday in July, and all their toys. My daughter lost her job until they reopen, so I've purchased a few things here and there for them, but I'm overwhelmed with my own expenses.

Family 6
We are a family of 2 (Son 5). I am a single Mom and our home and all of our belongings were completely destroyed due to the hurricane. The Sonder Project is helping us rebuild our home.

Family 7
We are a family of 2 (Son 10). I am a single Mom. My son lost all his clothes that were kept in my bedroom. The windows broke and water got on everything. The door flew open and his tv and gaming system was ruined. This storm was so unexpected, but we are grateful for what we do have.

Family 8
We are a family of 5 (Daughter 14 & 17, Son 13). I had a heart attack a week prior to the hurricane. I was out of work for a month. My house flooded. I have 3 kids. Lost the couch and had to pull up the carpets. I bought food, and got behind on bills. I had to throw lots of clothes away do to the flooding.

Family 9
We are a family of 3 (Granddaughters 12 & 14).  My daughter and family have moved in with me because of severe damage to their home. My home is also damaged, so we are sharing my 2-bedroom house. My daughter is unemployed, and I get social security, so money is tight. I am asking for a little something to go with what I can buy for my granddaughters.

Family 10
We are a family of 6 (Daughter 10, Son 2 & 14 and a family friend 14 staying with us). Our home was destroyed in the hurricane like many others in the Panama City area. At the present time our entire home is unlivable and completed gutted out. Shortly after the storm my husband lost his job. My husband is a local youth travel basketball coach in Panama City and we ended up assisting one of our players parents by taking her son in, who is also my son’s best friend. They have a family of 9 and have been living in tight quarters.

Family 11
We are a family of 7 (Son 29 & 28, Granddaughters 8, 5 & 4). We would appreciate any support.

Family 12
We are a family of 5 (Son 12 & 17, Daughter 9 & 10). I'm a single father and our house was badly damaged by hurricane Michael. I have lost income and I am having a hard time making ends meet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless.

Family 13
We are a family of 5 (Daughter 8, 9 & 10). Our whole home was ruined. My husband and I both lost our jobs We lost all of our clothes. We are having to try to pick up the pieces and start all over again.

Family 14
We are a family of 7 (Daughter 23, 20, Son 22, 26 & 16 and Granddaughter 4) I am a single Mom with 5 children and 1 grandchild. Any support would be much appreciated.

Family 15
We are a family of 5 (Grandson 12, Granddaughter 15, Son 47 and Daughter In-law 47). Unfortunately, Hurricane Michael devastated our home. The house is a complete rebuild and we are not able to live there currently. We lost all of our belongings. However, we are fortunate to have our lives. We will continue to pick up the pieces and make a new life.  We have the assurance that we can recover due to organizations like yours and the great people that willfully care. Our loss is great, but our hope is boundless. Thank you for considering us. Merry Christmas!

Family 16
We are a family of 5 (Daughter 22, 24 & 9). Our business was destroyed, and we have lost our income.

Family 17
We are a family of 4 (Daughter 11 & 18). We have significant roof damage that caused 3 to 4 inches of standing water inside the home. Mold remediation has yet to begin almost 60 days into the process. Roof supplies have been ordered but still living under a tarp. Lost all major appliances as well as bedding. Our kid’s clothes got damaged, so we had to throw a lot away.

Family 18
We are a family of 5 (Daughter 11, Son 2, 13 & 15). I am a single Mom and our home was damaged due to the Hurricane. I am also receiving less work hours.
