Sacred Heart Hosts an Evening with the Spine Expert Dr. Kornelis Poelstra Oct. 4
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will host an “Evening with the Spine Expert” event presenting the newest technology in spine health and robotic-assisted spinal surgery on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Flemings restaurant in Miramar Beach.
World renowned orthopedic and neurological spine surgeon, Kornelis Poelstra, MD, PhD, will lead the presentation. Dr. Poelstra is the founder of The Spine Center of Excellence at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast and is the world's most experienced expert in robotic-assisted, spinal surgery, performing more than 600 complex procedures.
Guests will learn about the latest advancements in robotic spine surgery technology and how these significant improvements translate to the patient in smaller incisions, reduction of post-operative pain, minimal muscle retraction, and therefore faster recovery. After the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and meet the team from The Spine Center of Excellence.
The Spine Center program at Sacred Heart features a multidisciplinary team of board certified orthopedic spine surgeons, nurses, social workers, and physical and occupational therapists who offer each patient a highly individualized treatment plan to help patients return to a higher quality of life. Common diseases and conditions of the spine include back or neck pain, degenerative disc disease, disc herniation, dislocations and fractures, osteoporosis, scoliosis, stenosis, tumors, cysts, and more.
