 CHELCO seeks a GIS/GPS Support Specialist 
 
Do you have an eye for detail? Are you artistic? Do you like working both indoors and outdoors? Then this might be the perfect career for you! CHELCO, a progressive member-owned electric cooperative located in DeFuniak Springs, FL, is accepting applications for a GIS/GPS Support Specialist. 
 
CHELCO is a 52,000-meter co-op primarily serving two counties from Alabama to the Emerald Coast beaches on the Gulf of Mexico in the panhandle of Florida. The area offers outstanding recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities. 
 
You could be collecting and inventorying GPS points of equipment and assemblies listed for CHELCO’s mapping system, maintaining electric system equipment for the cooperative’s maps, and creating drawings used throughout the cooperative. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to work safely and maintain a safe work environment.  
 
Minimum Qualifications: Must have a certificate in GIS with at least one year directly related experience; or a Bachelor’s in Arts or Bachelors of Science in Geography specializing in GIS. Must have knowledge of basic principles of drafting and mapping systems, as well as knowledge of arithmetic, geometry, statistics, and their applications, knowledge of design techniques, and the English language. Must have excellent computer skills. Valid driver’s license preferred.  
 
The position reports to the CHELCO Tech Center in DeFuniak Springs with normal office hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Travel within the cooperative territory and occasional travel outside of the area required. The position reports to the GIS Supervisor.
