Governor Rick Scott Appoints Dana Matthews to the First Judicial District Nominating Committee

Destin, Florida – Matthews & Jones, LLP is excited to announce that Dana Matthews has been appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) for the First Judicial District. Mr. Matthews will be serving a four year term with the JNC that ends on July 1, 2022. The JNC is comprised of twenty-seven separate divisions: one for the Florida Supreme Court; five for each of the district courts of appeal; twenty for each circuit court and the county courts contained in that circuit; and one Statewide Commission for Judges of Compensation Claims. The JNC is responsible for selecting judges for the Florida judicial system which includes interviewing, screening and evaluating each applicant to select only the most highly qualified individuals to present to the Governor. The Governor will then make the final decision from the list of applicants provided. Dana will be part of the First Judicial Circuit JNC which extends from Escambia County to Walton County.
