Holiday Events at Grand Boulevard

Vote for the People’s Choice Award at the Festival of Trees

Miramar Beach, Florida (Oct. 30, 2017) Grand Boulevard at Sandestin has released an exciting schedule of events for the holidays. Included this year are three signature holiday celebrations along with festive family-friendly activities.

The schedule will include Holiday Lights on the Boulevard, Festival of Trees - a charitable tree decorating contest, Free Photos with Santa, free rides on a horse drawn carriage and performances by the Emerald Coast Theatre Company.

Grand Boulevard Holiday Schedule of Events:

Coastal White Christmas, November 18 – January 1, 2018
The Town Center will be awash with thousands of beautiful white lights, bringing a festive and inviting spirit to the Boulevard. Every Friday and Saturday night in December enjoy a free, horse-drawn carriage ride around the Town Center while faux snow falls on the Festival of Trees display in Grand Park between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. To add to the festivities, Emerald Coast Theatre Company’s Dickensian Carolers will sing popular holiday carols on these evenings between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Town Center Open House & Walk-About, November 21, 3-6 p.m.
Take advantage of holiday specials and promotions from Grand Boulevard retailers and restaurants before and during the Festival of Trees kick-off.  Stop by select stores to register for a chance to win “A Taste of Grand Boulevard,” a prize that includes a gift from participating businesses.

Photos with Santa, Saturdays, November 25 - December 16
Santa visits Grand Park, Saturdays, from 2 - 3 p.m., at the Festival of Trees display, for free photos. Abrakadoodle will also offer free holiday arts and crafts for kids of all ages.

Festival of Trees, November 21 – December 25
During the kick-off, Nov. 21 from 4 - 6 p.m., twelve non-profit organizations are competing to win cash prizes totaling $7,000, including Best of Show and People’s Choice. The People’s Choice winner will be voted on and announced along with Best of Show, Second and Third Place winners, at the kick-off.

For the People’s Choice Award, everyone who attends will be able to vote for their favorite tree at Grand Park and the tree with the most votes will win. This event is a great way for local charities to earn some extra money during the holiday season. The trees will remain on display in Grand Park, through Christmas, for the public to enjoy.

This year’s Festival of Trees participating organizations are: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast, Children's Volunteer Health Network, Inc., Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center, Emerald Coast Theatre Company, Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, Friends of South Walton Sea Turtles, HEART Animal Rescue, Shelter House, The ARC of the Emerald Coast, Children in Crisis, The ARC of Walton County and The Sonder Project.

Last year, HEART Animal Rescue won Best of Show and People’s Choice and took home $4,500.  ECTC won Second Place and $1,500, the $1,000 Third Place prize was split between ARCEC and Sea Turtles.

A Wrinkle in Time, Thursday – Sunday, December 7 – 23
This programming presented by the Emerald Coast Theatre Company features one of literature's most enduring young heroines, Meg Murry. Once again, she's joining forces with Mrs. Whatsit, Charles Wallace, Calvin O'Keefe, and more to battle the forces of evil so she can rescue her father, save humanity and find herself. In the end, we know two things for sure: 1. Love can overcome evil and 2. There is such a thing as a tesseract. The performance is fun for the whole family. These festive events are part of the Coastal Culture Calendar of Events made possible by the Grand Boulevard Arts and Entertainment Program and have quickly become a tradition among South Walton residents and visitors.
