Fort Walton Beach attorney Larry Keefe has been named to the Executive Council of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar.

Established in 1967, the 7,000-member Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar provides a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas leading to the improvement of individual trial ability. The essential purposes of the Trial Lawyers Section are threefold: to assist the courts in improving the administration of justice; to promote the art of advocacy; and to preserve and protect the jury system.

The Executive Council has traditionally been comprised of an elite group of leading Florida trial lawyers who work to influence the Florida Bar’s policies and positions on all aspects of the trial of civil actions in Florida.

A founding partner in the law firm of Keefe, Anchors & Gordon, Keefe specializes in business law and commercial litigation. Keefe is the only Executive Council member from Okaloosa County and one of only three members located west of Tallahassee.

“I’m humbled to have been selected to serve alongside some of the finest attorneys in the state on the Trial Lawyers Section’s Executive Council,” Keefe said. “As a career litigator, I’m passionate about the Section’s mission and I’m eager to contribute.”

The honor is the latest in a series of professional milestones for Keefe this year. In July, Keefe was named for the tenth consecutive year to the list of Florida Super Lawyers, which honors attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition, met ethical standards, and have been recognized for their professional achievements. Just five percent of Florida attorneys are recognized each year on the Super Lawyers list.

Later in July, Keefe was honored for the sixth time as one of Florida Trend magazine’s Florida Legal Elite. The 2017 list of honorees represents just over 1% of the active Florida Bar members currently practicing law in the state.

The son of a World War II fighter pilot who retired on the Emerald Coast in 1968, Keefe graduated from local schools before attending the University of Florida on a football scholarship. After graduating from the University of Florida College of Law, Keefe practiced law in Tampa before returning home to the Emerald Coast in 1991. In 2009, Keefe joined together with partners Michelle Anchors and A. Benjamin Gordon to found the firm of Keefe, Anchors & Gordon.

Keefe is active both in his local community and the state legal community, having served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida and as a current member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law.
