Storm Impacts MKAF Operating Budget as Local Community Rallies Behind Recovery Efforts
DESTIN, FLORIDA (March 15, 2017) — The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation board of directors and staff applauds the generosity from individuals and businesses who have rallied in support of the recent storm damage recovery campaign.

“We are happy to announce that through generous community donations we have been able to order a replacement canopy for the Pavilion and should be installing the canopy by our opening Spring Concert in the Village in April,” said MKAF board chairman Matt Dalhman. “While we were able to order the canopy the unexpected expense has set our operating budgets back for the year. We are still graciously accepting donations to help offset those expenses so we can continue our mission.”
MKAF is dedicated to the continuing development of the Cultural Arts Village that belongs to all the people as a sense of place and quality of life which creates a vibrant cultural amenity for all audiences.
“The late Destin Matriarch, Mattie Kelly, bequeathed the land with the specific purpose of building a thriving arts and culture experience for the enjoyment of the residents and visitors to our coastal community in Northwest Florida, CEO Marcia Hull said. “The Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village plays a critically important civic and economic role in the community as a strong economic driver and revenue generator to sustain MKAF’s operations and cultural outreach programs serving students in the schools, children and adults with special needs and the veteran community of the wounded warrior population.”
An invitation to cover will be sent to local media in anticipation of the canopy installation. Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation 21st season of Concerts in the Village with Jersey: The Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band is scheduled for April 8, 2017.
