Dan Collins, who is a local music icon, who has helped shape the local music scene for decades. Dan recently suffered a significant heart attack requiring a hospital stay in ICU, and required life saving surgery. With his health on the line and a new baby on the way, a group of his friends have teamed up with AJ's to help ease the financial burden and assist the family in their recovery. The event was a collective effort of Alan Laird, owner of AJ’s Restaurant Group, his team, and talented musicians from across the Northwest Florida area. AJ’s team sold raffle tickets and commemorative T-shirts created specifically for this event to raise funds. Local business donors provided prizes, gift certificates, services and bands and musicians from the area played the well attended concert featuring Austin Jennings, Continuum, Heritage, and Black Eyed Blonde.
“Dan is my employee and my friend. He is so wealthy with all that matters, sincere, loyal and supportive friends” Alan Laird, Proprietor of AJ’s restaurant group continues, “We wanted to assist the family, so they can focus on what is important, each other. The last thing you should have to worry about is financial issues and how you are going to afford to pay your bills while getting your health back on track. We are hopeful this effort will enable our friends, the Collins Family, to heal and eventually thrive again.”
