SUMMARY:Children’s Volunteer Health Network Announces 2nd Annual Smile Mile and 5K
DESCRIPTION:Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) will host their 2nd Annual Smile Mile and 5K race on May 12th\, 2018\, presented by St. Joe Community Foundation. The race starts and ends at Watercolor Marina Park located in Santa Rosa Beach.\n\nThe CVHN signature event is fun-for-all ages and will help raise funds that will directly affect the health and well-being of kids in Walton and Okaloosa Counties. With over 20 percent of children in both counties living at poverty levels\, CVHN provides for children who otherwise would have nowhere to turn for medical\, dental and vision care.\n\n"We are encouraging fundraising teams of participants to band together in support of CVHN\," says Mike Gavigan\, race chair and chair of the board for CVHN. "We would love to see participants of all ages and abilities join us for the CVHN Smile Mile and 5K."\n\nUnusual for races in South Walton\, the CVHN race is a stroller-friendly event\; a measure to encourage family participation.\n\n5K participants will start at 7:30 AM and head west on Western Lake\, turn right on Buttercup\, then right onto 30A with a turnaround point at a halfway mark. The Smile Mile is also known as the 'Fastest Mile on 30A' and starts at 8:15 AM. "We call it the Fastest Mile on 30A because we want it to be a competitive run\, and a fun run\; A short distance to sprint among stellar Watercolor scenery\," says Gavigan.\n\nAfter the race\, participants will enjoy music\, food\, and awards.
