SUMMARY:Walton County Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) Working Group Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This is a reminder that our next Walton County Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) Working Group Meeting is scheduled for:\n\n\n\nDate: September 16th\, 2026 (Corrected Date)\n\nTime: 10:30 AM (Corrected Time)\n\nLocation: TBD\n\n\n\nA meeting invitation with the final location and agenda will be distributed as we get closer to the meeting date. We look forward to seeing everyone there as we continue working together to strengthen Walton County's hazard mitigation efforts.\n\n\n\nAdditionally\, I wanted to make everyone aware of an important mitigation funding update from the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM).\n\n\n\nIn anticipation of a future application period for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant programs\, FDEM has released a Mitigation Funding Notice of Interest (NOI). While this is not a Notice of Funding Opportunity\, FDEM is requiring the submission of an NOI form for potential projects by August 14\, 2026\, at 5:00 PM EDT.\n\n\n\nWalton County Emergency Management will complete and submit an NOI form for each project currently listed on the Walton County Prioritized Project List (PPL) and will notify the sponsoring agency once the form has been submitted. If your agency has a mitigation project that may be eligible for BRIC or FMA funding but is not currently included on the PPL\, please complete the attached NOI form so we can work together to have the project added to the list and submitted to FDEM.\n\n\n\nTo allow sufficient time for review and submission\, please return any completed NOI forms to me no later than Thursday\, August 13\, 2026. My email address is Wanya@waltoncountyem.org.\n\n\n\nNOI forms may be submitted to me as soon as they are completed. FDEM will review submissions in the order they are received. The purpose of the NOI is to help determine potential project eligibility and provide early feedback on proposed projects\, which can reduce review time during the formal subapplication process. Early submission also gives applicants additional time to address any identified issues and strengthen a future grant application.\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions regarding the NOI process or would like to discuss a potential mitigation project\, please don't hesitate to reach out.\n\n\n\nWanya Goodgain\, MPA\, ALEM\n\nWanya@waltoncountyem.org\n\nPX. 850-419-8393
