– Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer will celebrate their one-year anniversary on Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The community is invited to commemorate the restaurant’s anniversary by enjoying $1 drink specials, live music, and a raffle Food For Thought Outreach, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides backpacks filled with healthy food for students who are dependent on free school meals. Raffle items include free beer, lunch, brunch, and dinners for a year, an Apple Watch, Beats by Dre headphones, a guitar donated by 99Rock, a 4-hour fishing charter with Best In Destin 2016 BackDown2 Captain Gary Jarvis, and more.
Since opening last April, the 5,500+ square-foot restaurant has hosted a number of community events including Monthly Wine Tastings with McNeese Distributing, Business Empowered meetings, Walton Area Chamber Business After Hours, Harbor Hops benefiting Food For Thought, as well as many large parties and catered events. With seating for 280 guests including the refurbished outdoor deck, diners can enjoy live music and a 180-degree view of the Historic Destin Harbor. The interior of the restaurant also offers seating options with panoramic views of the Harbor.
The sister restaurant to Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi in HarborWalk Village, Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer is the second venture of local restaurateurs, Tyler Jarvis and Chris Ruyan. Offering lunch and dinner daily and brunch on Sundays, this unique concept features steamed and boiled seafood fresh off the docks in Destin. In addition to local seafood, guests can enjoy Alaskan snow crab and king crab, local and domestic oysters, mussels, clams, blue crab and shrimp boils all with unique seasonings, flavored boiled waters, and finishing butters. The ‘Hook and Cook’ program allows guests to bring in their catch from a day on the Gulf for Brotula’s to prepare. The menu also features burgers made with Pat Lafrieda Beef, sandwiches, salads, and other creative seafood entrees.
Brotula’s is one of only two local restaurants that feature the Fish Trax program, a tracking program that monitors local catches by tagging when and where the fish is caught; this method ensures the restaurateurs’ fresh and local promise; and, as an added bonus, promotes the local fishing fleet. Located on land owned by the Destin Fishing Fleet coop, 33 local charter boats sit in the water directly behind the restaurant.
