The Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center is offering free training for adults who work with or volunteer with children. The Darkness to Light “Stewards of Children” class teaches adults to recognize the seven signs of child sexual abuse and to react accordingly. The class is being offered onSeptember 23, from 5:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at 401 McEwen Drive in Niceville and free child care is available. “This class is so important for adults who work with kids. It happens—an adult has a feeling something’s just not right, but they don’t know what to do or who to tell. This class will help answer those questions and provide some guidance,” Case Advocate and Instructor Tom Dunn said. Many local churches, daycares, and schools have already benefited from the program. The session is offered at The Center, but may also be scheduled onsite for groups of 10 or more. Interested attendees contact Joy at joy@eccac.org or 850-833-9237 x256 to reserve a spot. Free childcare is available to attendees who RSVP by September 21. Refreshments will be served. Attendees will earn three inservice hours for attending. The session is provided at no cost to attendees thanks to a generousgrant provided by The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation.
