Join us on the first day of summer for the Grand Opening of the Native Plant Demonstration Garden and Trail. The event will be included among NWF State College’s 50th Anniversary activities, and it will be followed directly by the Cultural Arts Association A+ Art show reception from 5 – 7 pm, also at the South Walton Center of NWF State College (109 Greenway Trail, SRB), where wine and appetizers will be served.
The Native Plant Demonstration Garden and Trail is a joint project of the Walton County Master Gardeners, Northwest Florida State College, and the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance. It is a site for beauty and inspiration as well as public education. The Native Plant Demonstration Garden demonstrates best practices for the use of native plants, water conservation, and other Florida-friendly gardening techniques in the home landscape. The multi-modal Native Plant Trail wraps around the south-and-western edge of the campus. A corresponding Trail Guide refers visitors to markers along the Trail, providing information about native plants that occur in our local ecosystem.
