Soar with one of the most emotionally involving operas ever written as the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (NFSO) brings the romance and pathos of the heart-wrenching Madame Butterfly to life infull concert version sung in Italian with English subtitles. The radiant Maria Ferrante of Boston guest stars as the trusting geisha, whose love for an American naval officer ends tragically when Eastern and Western cultures collide. NFSO conductor and music director Jeffrey Rink, well known duringhis career in New England for concert opera performances of major operatic works, including performances in Boston’s Jordon Hall, leads the NFSO in this performance of Puccini’s masterpiece. Major underwriting for the NFSO production of Madame Butterfly is provided by the George and Alice Rich Charitable Foundation of Boston, Alexander A. Bove, Jr., trustee. The NFSO is the Emerald Coast’s premiere professional orchestra and performs on the mainstage of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center, where a custom orchestral shell provides an optimum acoustical experience for symphony patrons. Now in its 24thseason, the NFSO is operated by NWF State College and is supported by charitable donations and corporate underwriting. See the NFSO website at www.nfsymphony.org for season concert updates and further information.
