CHELCO seeks an Experienced System Protection Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced electrical engineering professional to ensure overall system capacity is adequate and system reliability is fully optimized. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of industry regulations, distribution equipment, Milsoft software, AMI, and knowledge of the power distribution system. Knowledge of SCADA, Feeder Automation, engineering design programs, preferred.

In this position, you would:
. Ensure overall system capacity is adequate at all times and system reliability is fully optimized.
. Plan, design, and analyze overhead and underground distribution lines, distribution substations, low voltage switchgear, power system communications, relay and protection, and other power system facilities.
. Assist in performing system simulation studies, economic analysis, and preparation of specifications and design of electrical plans for residential and commercial customers as described in CHELCO’s System Design and Operational Criteria (SDOC).
. Assist with the design and maintenance of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) database, and Feeder Automation (FA).
. Plan, design, and analyze major work plans that consist of high-quality, well-integrated, reliable overhead and underground distribution power lines, relays and protections, and other power system facilities.
. Supervise and assist the Senior Power Quality Technicians, Power Quality Specialist, and AMI Specialist.
. Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and bid documents. Act as a technical expert to co-workers, members, developers, and vendors.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required, and at least five years of experience in the electric distribution or related industry. Professional Engineer, preferred. Valid driver’s license preferred.
Must also have previous knowledge of and experience in:
a. Must be a technically competent engineer. Must have the ability to perform electrical distribution system analysis, computer data given by consumers on power requirements, possess the analytical skills to maintain electric line structures, uses transit and level instruments, performs mapping requirements.
b. Must have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
c. Must have a working knowledge of Milsoft software.
d. Customer and Personal Service —Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Must meet criteria to obtain access credentials for the U.S. government installations included in the Eglin AFB Utility Privatization contract. Must be available to perform duties for emergency response and storm restoration and be available for after-hours work and the stand-by program.
