The host’s basic function is to provide the guests, either on the phone or in
person, with information and support in a professional and gracious manner. The
essential hospitality standards must be used at all times: eye contact, smile,
speak first and engage in polite conversation with the guest.
Responsibilities:
Duties are as follows but are not limited to:
- Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide fair and consistent seating for guests.
- Receive and record reservations by phone or in person.
- Maintain a waiting list of guests. It is the greeter’s responsibility to know what tables are available, who is covering each section, and how to seat guests alternately in each section.
- Accurately handle the paperwork.
- Receive incoming calls.
- Check floor and tables for accuracy and cleanliness.
- Assist in bussing tables as needed.
- Maintain a clean podium. Wipe down menus at the end of each shift and
- replace if damaged.
- Stock Host/Hostess stand.
- Perform other restaurant and customer service-related requests to guests.
Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of restaurant experience.
- OpenTable experience is preferred.
- Good food and service knowledge.
- Pleasant personality.
- Excellent communication skills.
