Alys Beach Announces Inaugural Firkin Fête

30A beachside community will host its first-ever festival celebrating local breweries
WHAT: A new experience awaits residents and visitors of South Walton this fall at Alys Beach. The inaugural Firkin Fête at Alys Beach will take place on Friday, October 25, with local breweries showcasing special brews in a distinctive cask ale, called a firkin, which is made of stainless steel and holds 10.8 gallons of beer.
While in the cask, the beer goes through a secondary fermentation and the end product is a surprise to all. Neither the brewer nor the sampler knows what final flavor components lies within until the firkin is tapped, and an air of excitement and buzz wafts through the crowd as people line up to be among the first to taste what could be the next great ale. An eclectic and unique tasting experience in an elegantly rustic setting, Firkin Fête welcomes cooler, crisper weather along the beautiful Gulf Coast.

The event, which is underwritten by the Alys Foundation, will feature a mix-and-mingle at the Grayton Beer Taproom on Thursday night, October 24. The mix-and-mingle will take place from 6:30-9:00 p.m. with live music and food by the Grayton Beer Brewpub. Here, guests can meet the brewers from the participating breweries and learn first-hand the involvement in tapping a firkin and why exploring new beers is a longstanding tradition that has, in recent years, become a refreshed experience again for many.
The main event will be held on Friday, October 25 at Kelly Green, where the doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the tapping of the brewers’ firkins will begin at 7:00 p.m. There will also be live music, craft cocktails, as well as bourbon and wine tastings to complement the evening’s activities.

All-inclusive Firkin Fête tickets are $100 in advance at, and $150 at door.
