Local Officials Tour New Amazon Facility; 100+ Jobs Created in Walton County
Local officials and business leaders tour new Mossy Head facility; Amazon credits WWEDA for smooth project process.

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. — The Wonderful Walton Economic Development Alliance, local elected officials, community partners, and business leaders toured Amazon's distribution facility at Northwest Florida Commerce Park in Mossy Head, which opened in May 2026. The visit showcased one of the county's most significant recent economic development wins and highlighted the collaborative effort that brought the project to Walton County.
The facility has already created more than 100 jobs across Amazon and its two third-party logistics partners operating on-site, Victory Mile Logistics and JNA Logistics. That number is expected to grow as the facility ramps up operations and expands capacity in the months ahead.
The facility site lead led attendees through the tour, walking the group through the full lifecycle of a package and offering an inside look at the operations behind Amazon's distribution network.
Sam Blatt, Senior Manager, Economic Development at Amazon, also addressed the group during the tour, crediting WWEDA for the ease of the site selection and development process and specifically recognizing former WWEDA Executive Director Uriah Matthews, current Executive Director JJ Harris, and VP of Economic Development Jordan Johnson for their partnership and for organizing the site tour:
“This project came together because of strong local partners like WWEDA," Blatt said. "We're excited to bring faster delivery to Panhandle customers and create real opportunity for the Walton County community.”
Harris echoed that sentiment, highlighting what the project means for the county’s workforce and economic future:
"We are pleased that Amazon — an amazing company with great people — has chosen to invest in Walton County," said JJ Harris, Executive Director of WWEDA. "This investment, representing tens of millions of dollars, along with its two veteran-owned delivery partners, Victory Mile Logistics and JNA Logistics, will bring hundreds of full- and part-time jobs to our community. It's another example of the Wonderful Walton Economic Development Alliance and its partners delivering the kind of investment and stable tax base that improves quality of life for every Walton County resident."
