We are pleased to announce that Michael Whalen has been appointed Resort Operations Director at Seascape Resorts, Inc.
Michael has served as our Director of Sales & Events and will continue to lead that division. In this newly expanded leadership role, he will now oversee all aspects of resort operations, including rental management, maintenance, housekeeping, group sales, events, business development, and owner relations. Additionally, Michael will play a key role in the continued growth of The Grove and other upcoming residential and commercial developments at Seascape Golf, Beach & Tennis Resort. He will also maintain his position as a Class B Director on the Seascape Master Homeowners Association Board.
Michael brings over 40 years of hospitality experience, including a combined 12 years at Seascape. He originally joined us in 2008 as Rental Manager, was promoted to Director of Group Sales & Events in 2010, and held that role until 2014. After relocating to California for family reasons, he continued his career in leadership roles with Marriott and IHG-branded hotels before returning to Seascape in 2020.
Since his return, Michael has made a lasting impact, most notably by spearheading our partnership with Topeka, which introduced music vacation experiences to Seascape. These events have quickly become a signature part of our resort, with over 15 successful music vacations held to date—and 6 more already planned for 2025. This year alone, we anticipate welcoming over 45,000 attendees through these events.
In addition to his professional achievements, Michael actively contributes to the local community. He serves on the Visit Walton Marketing and Communications Committee and is a dedicated advocate for both Seascape and the greater Miramar Beach area.
With Michael’s leadership, we are excited to further enhance the guest and owner experience while continuing to build on our resort’s proud legacy.

“I’m honored to step into the role of Resort Operations Director. Hospitality has been my life’s work for over 40 years, spanning operations, sales, and events across hotels, meeting planning, and vacation rental resorts.
I’m deeply committed to Seascape and the people who make it special. I’ve experienced both challenges and milestones here—weathering the 2008 housing crash, the 2010 BP oil spill, and returning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, our team has shown remarkable resilience.
On a personal note, I’ve been married to my wife, Evelyn, for 32 years. We have two grown sons and one grandson, and we love to travel. So far, we’ve explored 35 states and 28 countries—and we’re not done yet.
There’s a bright future ahead for Seascape, and I look forward to leading us through the next chapter. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. I’m proud to be part of this incredible team and community.”
