Director of Finance / Controller

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Finance / Controller to lead and execute the financial operations of a multi-entity organization that includes retail, wholesale, logistics, and a 501(c)(3) non-profit division. This role combines day-to-day accounting ownership with strategic financial leadership, making it ideal for a senior accounting professional ready to grow into a broader finance leadership position. Mandatory experience with NetSuite accounting and intercompany management is required.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Extensive, hands-on experience with NetSuite
• Proven experience managing intercompany accounting and consolidations within NetSuite
• Experience overseeing multiple legal entities and divisions
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Own and oversee accurate financial records for all entities, including A/P, A/R, payroll, and daily reconciliations
• Manage full-cycle accounting including month-end close, journal entries, and cash flow statements
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and audit financial data for inconsistencies Manage credit cards, ACH and wire transfers (domestic and international
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules

Team Leadership & Intercompany Management

• Manage and oversee multiple intercompany bookkeeping personnel across all divisions
• Ensure consistent accounting practices, accuracy, and timely close across entities
• Provide guidance, review work product, and support training and development of bookkeeping staff

Financial Leadership & Analysis

• Prepare and analyze financial results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Allocate shared expenses and payroll across division

Compliance, Tax & Audit

• Ensure compliance with sales, inventory, property, and payroll tax requirement
• Manage grant-related financial tracking and reporting
• Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with 501(c)(3) guidelines
• Liaise with external accountants and auditors

Systems & Process Improvement

• Maintain and optimize NetSuite workflows
• Improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting

Communication & Reporting

• Communicate financial results, forecasts, and risks to ownership and executive leadership

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Experience in retail, wholesale, logistics, or non-profit environments a plus
