Okaloosa and Walton Counties Traffic Advisory Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities. In preparation for the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend, there will be no lane closures or other activities that impede traffic on major state roads beginning at 12 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 and ending at 12 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2. Okaloosa County: • Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Drivers will encounter intermittent Perry Avenue single-lane closures, between U.S. 98 and Brooks Street, Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for drainage work. During the closures, Perry Avenue north and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone. Additionally, drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 5, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities: o U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road. o Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park. • U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast – Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures, between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Sunday, Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 5, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for paving operations and manhole adjustments. • Interstate 10 (I-10) Wilkerson Bluff Road Bridge Repairs – I-10 drivers will encounter westbound inside lane closures from mile marker 48 to mile marker 51 near Wilkerson Bluff Road Bridge, Sunday, Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 5, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. • Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 5, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities. • State Road (S.R.) 85 and S.R. 189 Intersection Improvements – Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 189 lane closures at Pelham Road, Sunday, Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 5, between 6:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work. • S.R. 85 Improvements from S.R. 123 to U.S. 90 – Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 85 lane closures, from Redstone Avenue to U.S. 90, Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 5, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for concrete work. • Mary Esther Boulevard (S.R. 393) Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway (S.R. 189) – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on Mary Esther Boulevard, for crews to place thermoplastic striping and perform traffic signalization and drainage work at the following locations and times: o Sunday, Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Nov. 26, from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. o Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 5, from U.S. 98 to Hollywood Boulevard, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. o Monday, Dec. 2 through Saturday, Dec. 7, from Hollywood Boulevard to Beal Parkway, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Walton County: • Western Lake Bridge Replacement – Beginning the week of Sunday, Nov. 24, crews will begin pile driving operations near Western Lake Bridge, with work permitted daily from 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset. Stakeholders in the area may experience noise and vibration from pile driving. The work will take place off the County Road 30A roadway, and no traffic impacts are anticipated. Flaggers will be on-site during pile driving operations to safely direct pedestrian and marine traffic through the work zone. All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway. ###
